Wireless Network Technician

Job Summary

The Wireless Network Technician is responsible for configuring, testing, maintenance and drive test surveys of all Radio Access Network (RAN) nodes for CDMA, WiMAX, NextNet and LTE networks.

Qualifications or Prerequisites

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Receive assignments in form of objectives and tasks, and work to achieve desired outcomes
  • Interface with sales, operations and customers to integrate, maintain and resolve all RAN issues.
  • Assist in the configuration and installation of network access nodes for WiMAX, NextNet, CDMA and LTE and to ensure proper operation
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, maintenance and repair of all backhaul microwave transport systems and ensure performance according to design specifications
  • Monitor access network elements (WiMAX, CDMA, NextNet LTE) for alarms and take appropriate actions to resolve and document resolutions
  • Monitor the network transport system for transmission errors, degraded performance and outages, and take corrective actions to restore to optimum performance
  • Maintain accurate logs of outage events, the network nodes affected and activities executed to remedy the outage
  • Assist in performing RF drive test surveys of all technologies to ensure optimal RF performance and generate reports on findings
  • Perform site surveys for residential and enterprise customers and document observations to assist in installation planning
  • Perform installation of equipment to provide Internet service to both residential and enterprise customers
  • Perform troubleshooting of Internet and mobile services for residential and enterprise customers
  • Perform other functions and duties that may be requested from time to time


  • Proficient in Windows Operating System
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Access
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Solutions oriented and strong initiative
  • Understanding of multiple wireless technologies (voice and data) on one or more wireless network subsystems (CDMA/Wimax/LTE).
  • Understanding of Motorola Expedience Platform.
  • Understanding of Redline, Dragon Wave, Radwin and other microwave systems that may be deployed from time to time


  • Associate degree in Electrical, Computer, Telecommunications Engineering or related discipline
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the management of aspects of telecommunications networks can be considered as a substitute.


  • CCENT Certification or higher.


  • Physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting
  • Walk and sit, stand, talk or hear, seeing, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, twist, and grasp
  •  Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Low to moderate noise level
  • Traversing on foot to complete a task
  • Use of upper extremities to maneuver
  • Ability to climb heights up to 28ft or higher on ladder


  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment
  • Work requires extensive work using a computer
  • Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported
  • The job will also entail outdoor work to include some physical labor including tower climbing
